Outdoor Christmas Light Candle
From LoveToKnow Candles
An outdoor Christmas light candle display can give a lovely festive feel to a garden or yard. There are many types of Christmas lights to choose from.
Christmas is a time of year when you can really go to town with decorations. Throughout the years Christmas has been celebrated with candles and other lights. Before people had access to electricity, candles and oil lamps were one of the main forms of decorative light. Outdoor Christmas light candle displays are one of the most traditional types of outdoor Christmas decoration. While years ago real candles would be used as Christmas lights, today there are many other alternatives that look great yet are more convenient to use.
Types of Outdoor Christmas Light Candle Displays
Here are some of the common types of outdoor Christmas light candle displays that are popular during the festive period:
Real Candles
While perhaps they are not as common as they once were, real candles are still used in some outdoor Christmas light displays. They have a lovely authentic feel, however there are also some drawbacks in using real candles outside. Real candles need protecting from the wind as they can easily be blown out. They also require careful placing as they could be a fire risk. It is important that real candles are out of the reach of children and pets.
Electric Christmas Candle Lights
Artificial or flameless candles may not look quite the same as real candles, but they have many benefits. They can be placed in trees or around the edge of a garden when real candles may prove a safety hazard. They can also be left on for long periods of time without having to worry about the candles burning down. Electric outdoor Christmas light candle displays use a small amount of electricity and are therefore low cost to use. They are available in a variety of styles ranging from candle shapes through to lamps that give the illusion of candles.
Solar Powered Outdoor Candles
A recent innovation is the solar powered outdoor candle. This has some real benefits. Solar powered candles do not need access to the main electricity supply, so they can be placed anywhere in the garden or yard. They will not cause a fire hazard so can be placed in trees or near fences. One of the main drawbacks, however, is that they require enough daylight to recharge and therefore, as Christmas falls when the days are shortest, the candles might not run for a long time.
Battery Operated Outdoor Candle Lights
Battery operated outdoor candles offer a great compromise. They have many of the positive features of the different types of outdoor candle light discussed above, while not having the drawbacks. They can be placed anywhere in the garden without fear of fire hazard and are not dependent on sunshine to operate.
Many battery candle lights have a long running time and therefore the batteries do not require frequent changing. While battery lights may not be as bright as lights that run of the mains electric supply, they are plenty bright enough to add a festive feel to a garden or yard.
Outdoor Christmas candle lights can be a lovely way to add a festive ambiance to a garden. With options extending from real candles through to solar powered holiday candle lights there is bound to be an option to suit you, what ever your circumstances.
