Scentsy
From LoveToKnow Candles
Scentsy has created a line of innovative candles and related products that don't require a flame to release their scent. Instead, these candles use a warmer that is heated electrically, melting the wax and scenting your home quickly and safely.
About Scentsy
Scentsy is a relatively new company, founded in 2004. The company is based in Meridian, Idaho and their first product was the Authentic Scentsy Bar.
These candle bars were born of a desire to create a candle that would be safe to use in any household, including those with children and pets. The bars themselves are made of food grade petroleum based wax, which is quite soft and melts easily using a low heat source. The Scentsy candle warmers plug in to any traditional outlet, and use a low-watt light bulb that gives off the same amount of heat as a regular night light.
The wax in the candle bar doesn't evaporate like traditional wax. Instead, it melts into a pool and releases its scent. Each section of the candle burns for at least 50-80 hours, often much longer than that, so the scents last a long time.
Safe Candle Products
The main attraction of these candles and scented products is that they are safe to burn almost anywhere. There's no open flame and no wick, and the light bulb itself never gets very hot. If the warmer is accidentally knocked over or left unattended, there's no danger of a fire starting. Even the wax never gets extremely hot, as it melts at such a low heat.
Many people who have fears of burning candles due to children, pets, or a simple fear of house fires can use these products safely and easily in their homes. There is no smoke and no soot released from these products.
Scentsy Products
Scentsy offers a wide variety of richly scented products, including:
- Candle Bars – Each bar is made up of six squares, which you break off and burn one at a time.
- Candle Bricks – Candle bricks are six times the size of the candle bars, making them a good value for your money.
- Room Sprays – Room sprays disperse scent quickly in a targeted area, and come in the same scents as the candles.
- Car Candles – Car candles are designed to plug in to small spaces, and can be used to take with you when you travel.
- Warmers – These warmers come in over 45 different designs, and add to the décor of your home. Sizes vary, and some can even be used in very small spaces.
Candle Scents
One of the great things about Scentsy candles is the variety of scents. New ones are introduced frequently, and there are over 80 of them to choose from. Some of the most popular scents include:
- Sunkissed Citrus
- Black Raspberry Vanilla
- Grove and Clove
- White Tea and Cactus
- Home Sweet Home
- Red Delicious Apple
- Flower Shop
- Orange Almond Biscotti
- Lemon and Lavender
- Breathless
- Alpine Holiday
- Cedar Sandalwood Lime
- Autumn Sunset
- Clean Breeze
- Sticky Cinnamon Bun
- Juicy Peach
- Fried Ice Cream
Since the candles are designed to melt into a pool of wax, they can hold more essential and fragrance oils. The scents stay true to what they smell like when in their solid form, so you don't get a different fragrance after use. The scents spread throughout your entire home very quickly.
These candles will give off scent for as long as they hold their oil. Once all of the scented oils have burned off, you'll be left with a pool of warm wax. To dispose of the wax, pour it into a paper cup and discard. Wipe off the top of the warmer, and you're ready for a new scent.
